This morning, I walked into Starbucks, and the young lady at the counter greeted me cheerfully. I’d seen her there before but had never interacted with her. She cheerfully said, “Hello, Yuri, what would you like to order?”
I felt pleasantly surprised that she knew my name. I honestly couldn’t recall interacting with her on my previous visits, but the fact that she knew and remembered my name somehow and addressed me by my name really put a smile on my face. Dang, am I really getting old, and do the little things like that now make me smile? I know she’s doing her job; it’s probably a company policy or something like that. But it did come out very genuine and friendly. And on top of that, she was pretty. Or maybe my mind automatically created a pretty picture of her because she said my name?
Since the weather was nice and there was music playing inside, I had planned to sit outside and do my Teams call, but as I logged on, they rescheduled the meeting to a later time, all of a sudden. I had about an hour to kill. So, I did something I never do – I went back inside and did a little work on the computer INSIDE Starbucks, even though the music was loud. Today, I didn’t mind it.
